Morningside Heights is a beautiful and vibrant neighborhood on the west side of Manhattan between 110th and 125th Streets, filled with educational, cultural, and religious institutions.
I've carefully designed this workshop so as to hit the very best photo opportunities in Morningside Heights during a 3-hour session. Along the way, we'll be able to engage in different types of photography, from landscape to architectural to street photography and portraiture
We'll photograph the classical interior of General Grant National Memorial (Grant's Tomb) as well as its outside setting in Riverside Park
Less than a block away, we will photograph Riverside Church, the tallest church in North America, with lots of decorative detail to keep you well engaged
We will then walk through the beautiful main campus of Columbia University You'll have an opportunity to photograph the classically-designed and historic buildings and the beautiful landscaping... and see if you can find the owl hidden in the folds of the robe worn by Athena, sitting on her thrown in front of Low Memorial Library.
To finish on a high note, we'll photograph the exterior and interior of the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine, the largest Anglican cathedral in the world (and fifth largest Christian church.)
And as a whimsical coda, before we disband, we'll pass by Tom's Restaurant, which was used for the exterior of the diner on Seinfeld.
I’m limiting the number of people who can attend, so that I can spend time with each of you to help with anything you need in getting really compelling images of the sites that we visit along the way. That can range from basic photo or camera help to assistance with composition and advanced techniques, as well as using your camera on tripod inside the Cathedral.
Also, as an added value, you'll be able to send me your photos (or links to them) from this workshop for evaluation and feedback. I'll make comments and suggestions, and in many cases, do some photo editing on your photos to demonstrate how to make a good image even better.
