Among its many other fine attributes, Hoboken is a wonderful place to photograph the New York City Skyline.

This photograph of Lower Manhattan was taken from the southeast corner of Pier A Park in Hoboken. 

You can get great views of Midtown from here, but I would recommend going to the very end of Pier C Park, which gets you a bit closer. The entrance to Pier C Park is just across from 1st Street on Sinatra Drive. There are even closer viewpoints further north - check out a map of Hoboken and you'll see plenty of places for photographing Manhattan.
