THE BENJAMIN FRANKLIN PARKWAY PHOTO WORKSHOP

  • Philadelphia Washington Monument (map)

Come join me in this great photo workshop in Philly... we'll have a photo party on the Parkway!

On this photo workshop, we’ll explore the sights and delights along Benjamin Franklin Parkway, which is actually a part of Philadelphia’s park system. Starting at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, we’ll walk along the Parkway, photographing statues by Rodin, a giant sculpture of Ben Franklin, and a monumental fountain, the most beautiful in the city.

And here's great news! You don't have to go to Paris for great photography this fall: the Parkway Central Library is the spittin' image of Hôtel de la Marine, which is adjacent to Place de la Concorde in Paris. And anyway, the Ben Franklin Parkway is Philly's Champs Élysées. We'll photograph the exterior of the Library and also some of its great interior views.

Speaking of great interiors, wait until you see the inside of Philadelphia's cathedral, which is also right on the Parkway. It's highly-decorated, Italian Renaissance interior design rivals anything you can photograph in Rome, Florence, or Pisa.

Philadelphia is a city of outstanding older and new architecture, and we’ll get to photograph that too, as we circumnavigate City Hall. This 1901 structure is surrounded by other exceptionally handsome buildings of various styles, including Art Deco, Modern, and Postmodern.

I'll show you the best things to photograph, the best angles to shoot them from, and also give you a running commentary on the history and significance of what we'll be seeing and photographing. I'm limiting attendance to just 8 people, so everyone can have plenty of individual attention.

Also, as an added value, you'll be able to send me your photos (or links to them) from this workshop for evaluation and feedback. I'll make comments and suggestions, and in many cases, do some photo editing on your photos to demonstrate how to make a good image even better.

If are new to photography or could use a refresher on topics like f-stops, depth of field, basic composition, etc, I will conduct an optional, free pre-tour session on those topics 45 minutes before we start the tour for anyone registered.
