Have you been wanting to learn how to take good portraits? Then this is the workshop for you!
We will show you how to take on-location individual and group portraits, both indoors and outdoors, at the beautiful Grey Rock Mansion. For the indoor session, we’ll show you how to set up and use flash and reflectors and balance them with natural light coming from windows. For the outdoor garden session, you’ll learn how to master available outdoor light so as to make your subjects look amazing. You’ll also learn how to pose your subjects and put them at ease.
You will be using your own camera throughout the workshop and our lighting equipment during the indoor session, as well as our reflectors and other aids during the outdoor portion of the workshop. You will end the workshop with some great portraits of your own making!
After the workshop, you’re welcome to join us at Panera Bread nearby for lunch, which will give you plenty of additional time to ask questions.
Our workshop location, Grey Rock Mansion is an elegant venue, a former mansion in Pikesville that serves for weddings and other festive occasions. It has ornate rooms as well as a magnificent garden that includes a gazebo and a fountain.
Our head instructor for this workshop is Fred Silber, who will share his 40-plus years of portrait and wedding photography experience with you and teach you what you need to know in the way of technique, lighting, and posing for indoor and outdoor formal or informal portraiture for individuals or groups. Fred will also explain what equipment you will need to get started in portraiture.
We’re keeping the workshop small, so that we can give each participant individual attention.
