On this excursion, we will be visiting three of NYC’s most recent and innovative sites:
Little Island, and artificial island park in the Hudson River, covers 2.4 acres and is supported by 132 tulip-shaped concrete structures. Landscape architect Signe Nielsen designed the paths, lawns, and plantings that make Little Island welcome amenity for the Meatpacking District and Chelsea neighborhoods of Manhattan.
The High Line is a 1.45 mile-long elevated linear park on Manhattan’s West Side. An innovative reuse of an abandoned 1930’s elevated freight railway, the High Line is a greenway that has become tremendously popular since its opening eleven years ago
Hudson Yards is a just-completed major development with a scope larger than that of Rockefeller Center. With ten distinct structures and sites, including two buildings taller than 1000 feet, Hudson Yards is a must-see for anyone interested in architecture and innovative city planning.
Your host, award-winning photographer and NYC expert Steve Rosenbach, will guide you to and through each of these sites, discussing their architectural significance and also providing any help you need to take outstanding photos.
Transportation to NYC, lunch, and local transportation ($6.50) is not included.
