From Streets to Skylines: A Magical Photography Weekend in New York City - Fall Edition

  • 100 Sinatra Drive Hoboken, NJ, 07030 United States (map)

Here is an amazing opportunity to spend TWO FULL DAYS photographing some of the most photo-worthy, carefully curated sites and scenes in New York City!

Your instructors will be one of Boston's Finest (photographers) Dmitriy Andreyev and NYC Maven Steve Rosenbach. We'll provide you with both group instruction and individual coaching to meet your needs. To make sure we give everyone plenty of attention, we are limiting this workshop to only 12 participants. This workshop is suitable for any skill level, and smartphone photographers are most welcome.

We will officially start our workshop on Saturday October 25 at 6:30 AM to capture the dramatic sunrise over the Manhattan skyline, shooting from one of the best vantage points: the waterfront in Hoboken, NJ. After sunrise, enjoy time to relax on scenic Hoboken Pier 1, or continue with optional street and architectural photography around Hoboken’s charming waterfront district.

In the afternoon, we will explore some of Central Park’s most picturesque and photogenic areas, focusing on landscape, architectural, and candid photography opportunities. As the sun is starting to set, we will board the Staten Island Ferry to capture sweeping skyline views of Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty, and the harbor bathed in golden light. We will finish the evening on the waterfront at Exchange Place in Jersey City, photographing the illuminated Lower Manhattan skyline and learning techniques for low-light and long-exposure photography.

On Sunday morning, we’ll start at a much more civilized time and we will photograph the architectural marvels and historic streets of the Financial District of Lower Manhattan, including hidden alleyways, modern skyscrapers, and iconic landmarks.

In the afternoon, our workshop concludes with a walk through Little Island - NYC’s striking floating park, followed by the elevated perspectives of The High Line and a climb up The Vessel in Hudson Yards for breathtaking urban views, ending at about 5PM.

With our deep knowledge of New York City and skillful plotting of subway trips, we have very efficiently packed a lot of photography and fun into the time available. We don't think there is another two-day workshop that can equal this one.

We have secured a block of rooms at TRYP by Wyndham Newark Downtown, just a quick ride to Manhattan via PATH train. This is a great value hotel just outside the city with easy access to all shooting locations. If you choose to stay at our recommended lodging, we will help you select the best room option after you complete your workshop registration. However, especially if you are local, you can stay anywhere and meet us at designated times and places, which we will send out about a week before this event.
