Philadelphia: Inquirer Building

Philadelphia: Inquirer Building

Several of us Cityscapers got this view of the Inquirer Building and surrounding neighborhood from 883 feet up during our recent Meetup at One Liberty Place observation deck.

It's the handsome white building, a rather elegant structure for such a hard-working, gritty neighborhood, is the former home of the Philadelphia Inquirer,. The eighteen-floor, 340-foot-tall building was built 1923-24 in a simplified Beaux-Arts style, designed by the firm of Rankin, Kellogg & Crane.

Hmmmm, I wonder if this project caused any trouble among the partners; Mr. Crane went free-agent in 1925, and the firm reverted to Rankin & Kellogg
